Program Manager, ScriptEd + Activist
Juliana “Jewels” Smith is the Program Manager of ScriptEd, a non profit that seeks to equip students in under-resourced schools with the fundamental coding skills and professional experiences that together create access to careers in technology. Working closely with OUSD and Oakland High Schools, Smith oversees the programs initial class offerings in Oakland. With a background in education and teaching experience at San Francisco City College and Laney College, Smith seeks to bridge the gap between professional software developers, youth development, and effective pedagogy, to create the next generation of coders.
Students risk unpreparedness in our technological society if they lack access to technology and technological instruction.
