Dr. Jamika D. Burge, a Senior Manager at Capital One, is Founder and Principal of Design & Technology Concepts, LLC. From 2011-2015, she was a consultant to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the Information Innovation Office (I2O), where she provided technical and management consult for DARPA research programs which were funded at over $70 million. She is active in computer science education and STEM preparedness efforts, providing expertise for a host of programs funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Computing Research Association (CRA), particularly in providing insight and research into the layers of intersectionality that affect black women and girls in computer science. Jamika’s career has also included positions in academia (Spelman College and Howard University), non-profit (Smarter Balanced at UCLA), and Industry (IBM Research). Jamika is also one of the current conference co-chairs for the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, and in 2016, she served as a GHC program co-chair. She has also on the steering committee for the Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference since 2013.
