Briana Marela is an electronic musician from the Pacific Northwest, but has recently moved to Oakland, CA to pursue an MFA at Mills College. She grew up in Seattle, then attended The Evergreen State College in Olympia where she studied audio production and music technology.
Immersed in the NW DIY music scene, at 22 she booked herself a 2 1/2 month tour around the US and her music caught the ear of producer Alex Somers (Julianna Barwick/Sigur Rós). A new album is in the works, with no release date set. She is driven by her love for vocal processing and manipulation, as well as a fascination of interpersonal relationships and looking towards creating understanding through peaceful melodies and plain spoken lyrics of open communication and unconditional love.
